The Lello 4090 Pro Quart Gelato Maker is a more "family-sized" gelato machine that makes up to 2 quarts of gelato in roughly 45 minutes. It is also equipped with a removable stainless steel bowl, built-in self-refrigerating freezer, safety auto shut-off mechanism, recipe book and timer. The motor on this gelato maker is rather powerful and comes in at 1/3 horsepower. The Lello 4090 see-through lid contains a small "chute" through which you can add ingredients like nuts, fruit pieces and candies.

Advantages:
The Lello Pro Quart Gelato Maker has several advantages over other, and even bigger, gelato machines: to begin with, the noise level of this gelato maker is not very high. This is surprising considering that the Lello 4090 has a 1/3 hp motor. Also, the 2.1 total quart capacity stainless steel bowl is removable, which makes cleaning between individual gelato batches more hygienic and certainly much easier. There are extra bowls available for purchase if you would rather just keep your homemade gelato in its "original" container (and defer cleanup for a later time). As far as I know, the bowls are the only additional accessory that you can readily buy from the company.
The auto shutoff feature of the Lello 4090 ensures that the motor drive will turn off when a batch of gelato is complete, protecting the gelato machine from overheating or damage. This also prevents the gelato itself from being overchurned and/or freezing solid. The installed timer will first beep when the gelato is ready, however. Finally, this gelato machine uses eco-friendly refrigerant R134A.
Disadvantages:
What are some of the disadvantages of the Lello 4090 Pro Quart Gelato Maker? Some consumers have complained about the machine’s weight, which comes in at almost 40 pounds (shipping weight is 43 lbs). However, this is an unavoidable feature since this gelato maker has a built-in freezer, in essence. A more unfortunate fact of the Lello 4090′s design is that its ingredient port is quite small, forcing you to chop up your ingredients before adding them in. Whole strawberries, for example, will probably not fit through this gelato maker’s ingredient chute.
