When you want the ultimate in rich and creamy goodness, nothing beats this wonderful Creamy Cannoli Gelato recipe. While not made with the traditional gelato ingredients, this recipe is perfect when you’re craving something more than just fruit and milk-based gelato. Creamy Cannoli Gelato may be topped with chocolate syrup, Amaretto, or Frangelico.
Gelato Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 12 ounces Mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon 100 % vanilla extract
Optional Ingredients
- 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds or pistachios
Combine the milk, cream, and sugar in a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat. Stir the mixture until it starts to simmer, then remove from heat. Add in the vanilla and let everything cool. Place a cover on the mixture and refrigerate for about 2 hours or overnight.
Later on, or the next day, stir in the mascarpone cheese until it is mixed with the gelato batter. Add in the optional chocolate chips and/or almonds/pistachios. Transfer the mixture into a gelato maker and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions. Enjoy immediately.
